Reply with quote | #1 | Are you using the DSLR or P&S for your self pics while out on the water now? Just curious. I haven't messed around with it much but it seems that the Nikon might be a real pain to set up. Between wet & slimy hands and feeling that I MUST set up the tripod and not risk the camera fallling off a tackle bag or something, I talk myself out of using it and grab the ol' Canon G Deuce. The Canon, BTW, has been having issues with not wanting to power on sometimes even with a known good and charged battery. Anyway, just curious.

Reply with quote | #2 | Kurt,
I've been snagging my wife's Panasonic Lumix FZ-8 for the kayak/boat. The first time I took my Nikon on the kayak was last Saturday. I really did that just for a contingency plan to shoot birds if the fishing stunk (it did). I have a quick release tripod mount on my kayak, but I still don't know if I'd feel comfortable hanging my Nikon on it. Honestly, I think the P&S works better for self-timer pics because the depth of field is so large with the small sensor...much less chance of blowing the focus.
