Reply with quote | #1 | TodayI got out for the last flood tide I can fish until next month's floods. The tides have been flooding for so long, seems like the grass is pretty picked over and not many fish around. Those you see usually aren't tailing and just sucking snails and crabs off the exposed grass. It seemed like today would be fish-less. I finally saw one cruising the surface sucking on grass. I got out and hunted him down. Four casts later I'd tricked him with a merkin fly. Seemed like I'd be having a good dinner tonight. Well I had burgers instead. The fly pulled out a little over a minute into the fight. Oh well, the fun is in hunting them down and tricking them.
On my way out I saw another cruising the surface, hopped out and tried to repeat the whole process. I landed the fly right in front of it on the first cast this time and up pops this skinny head and looks at me. It was a small sea turtle in the grass. That was different.

Reply with quote | #2 | Well you certainly did get to hunt them for a bit this flood tide. Maybe I can make the next one. Just putting in the time. Seems the earlier in the flood the better. __________________ "Government cannot solve the problem because government is the problem." Ronald Reagan |
