I know Ebby's not in to the trophy hunting as I am, but what would be some of ya'lls dream hunts for game big or small, practical or no...I came real close to putting prairie dog hunting on this list below...or Stuttgart, AR for timber mallards, but went with my lean towards big game....let's get a little action going here!!!

Hunter's bullet kills Ferrum student
A second student was injured by the same bullet in the incident, which occurred about a mile from campus.

One Ferrum College student was killed and another injured about 4 p.m. Tuesday by a hunter who apparently mistook them for deer, authorities said.

Three students were collecting frogs for a biology class along a Franklin County-owned trail about a mile west of campus when one of them, a female, was fatally shot in the chest and another, a male, was shot in the hand, authorities said.

Authorities did not release the names of the victims Monday night.

Jason David Cloutier, 31, of Ferrum was charged with manslaughter, reckless handling of a firearm and trespassing, said Sgt. Karl Martin, district supervisor of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

Kimberly Boudinot said over the phone from her home in Irvington, near the Chesapeake Bay, that her stepson Regis Boudinot, 20, a junior at the college, was shot in the hand. She said a bullet had struck the female student, and then entered Regis' right arm before exiting through his hand.

She said her stepson was being operated on at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital late Tuesday for what appeared to be an injury that was not life-threatening.

"Our hearts and prayers are with the family of the girl who was killed as well as the man who was involved in the accident," Kimberly Boudinot said.

The college sent an alert to students shortly after 5 p.m. saying there was no danger to the campus community, and by 7:30 p.m. college President Jennifer Braaten had sent an e-mail to the community confirming the death.

"We ask for everyone's prayers for the families affected by this terrible event," Braaten wrote. "The College community is in mourning over the loss of a beloved member of our Ferrum family."

While authorities had not released the identity of the student who died, many in the roughly 1,400-student college were already mourning the loss Tuesday night. Some visited counselors at the campus chapel; others cried and hugged each other, said Sam Catron, president of the Student Government Association.

"People have come together not just as a school, but as a family," Catron said. "This incident affected not only the parties involved, but it affected Ferrum, and it affected Franklin County."

Catron said the reaction was a stark contrast to the sentiments of anger some felt in mid-October when students were victims in another off-campus shooting. Two students were shot in a fight over a woman. They were treated and released from a local hospital while authorities sought a suspect.

"Last month there was more anger because that was on purpose," Catron said. "Now this is just an accident, and people are just shocked."

A prayer service was scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Vaughn Chapel, and classes during that hour have been canceled, college spokeswoman Natalie Faunce said.

HALF MOON 2 - JBUG 1

Back in July I joyously announced to everyone on here about my drawing of 3 Half Moon WMA permits this year. 1st Archery, Muzzleloader and 1st General gun. I thought I would report my results.
The 1st Archery was one of the hottest weekends I have ever hunted in my life. I was borderline dehydrated every trip I made into the woods. Only 1 buck (8pt) and a sow were shot during those 3 days. I did stick a small boar the final morning, but could not find him. I will say though that the following weekend was much cooler and the harvest was much better. Too bad it didn't include me.
Muzzleloader was cooler (not much) and honestly not too much productive. I counted 11 shots the first morning, but when I arrived at the check station nothing had been checked out. Can't recall how many deer were taken by the end of this hunt, but I remember in the past that equal or more had been taken on the first morning of the muzzleloading hunts. I did see deer every day though. Just no shooters. Also, the moon was sooo bright I almost did not need a light to walk the 1/2 mile back into the swamp. Was also greeted by 2 deer standing next to my climber hanging on a tree the final morning. Whodathunk?
1st General gun - Sounded like WWIII with all the shooting going on. Some of it close! Counted around 15 or more shots. I hunted the same area that I did in muzzleloader. I was finding new scrapes and rubs on a daily basis during muzzloader. I was torn to hunt the area or move to another spot that I knew. 8:40am I popped a nice 5pt that I truly believe came in to smell my Tink's 69 wick. My buddy got a nice 8pt the following morning. Too bad I probably won't get this hunt for another 2-3 yrs.
Hunted the Ocala National Forest this past Monday a.m. Listened to an older gent shoot twice and then talk to his buddy for 20 minutes about the whole thing. The whole time I had 2 deer hung up around 100 yds behind me waiting them out. Could not tell what they were and they decided to mosey on the other way. I'll be back in there this weekend. Hopefully I'll be alone, or I'll have to move.

For if we are at war, why is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed headed for trial in federal court in the Southern District of New York? Why is he entitled to a presumption of innocence and all of the constitutional protections of a U.S. citizen?

See link for the rest of the article. Mohammed should not me in the US court system. As soon as his sorry but could get out of the hospital he should be put at Guantanamo with his Al Qaida buddies. He should then face an immediate Military Tribunal and be fed to the sharks piece by piece on CNN exclusive so none of his buddies get the same idea. It wouldn't be worth the cost of a bullet on this looser. Man this has me riled up today.

New Toy, much fun

I finally dusted off my wallet and added a new shooter to my gun safe. I'm really liking it so far. It's a Savage MK II BTV with a cheap Simmons scope, I've been wanting one for a while. I bought it off a guy locally that only had it out twice. The 5 shot group posted was on my first outing with it, shot off a rickety old wooden rest with a piece of foam as a rest after tweeking the scope a bit. I think I can make it shoot better playing with it some. My first experience with the Savage Accu-trigger so far and it seem to have a nice break at a low weight. I'll have to see if it's dialed all the way down or not. I'd say it's a keeper. Squirrels look out!

The guy I bought it from was telling me that Gateway is going Gangster. He said the last few times he's been there, the boys are there with their pants down to there knees. One guy had a gold plated Desert Eagle and was shooting it gangster style and all the ways the brothers do it in the movies. The range master eventually kicked him out. Good.
